FAQs

How long will it take?

From briefing and gearing up to flying up in our magical mystery machine (not really a mystery, it's that white plane over there) to jumping out and landing on the sweet, sweet earth - not long, maybe half an hour.

But! sometimes things take a little extra time, maybe there is some nasty cloud, or you bring some cheese from Timboon to the airport, then we're all eating cheese and chatting together and wow, we went to the same high school? Do you know, oh, what's her name, Lucy something? I hear she smokes meth now.

*Sometimes stuff like that happens. We want to make the most efficent use of your time as we can, but we wold ask that you set aside up to four hours from your booking time. Hopefully we can have you do three jumps in that time!

Can i book in for someone else?

Of course! Whether it is a surprise birthday present or you want to book in the whole family, absolutely you can make a booking for someone else.

how far ahead should i book?

To give the best chance of getting the day and time you want, in busy times it is best to try to book a week or two in advance. That said, if you are driving along the Great Ocean Rd and see our sign, come in and say hi, we might be able to get you up straight away if you’re lucky!

What if my skydive is cancelled?

If the weather really isn’t in our favour, we might need to cancel jumping for the day. We want you to be able to jump and we really like jumping too, but sometimes the weather just isn’t up to it. If this is the case, we will re-book you for another day or we can leave it open in the system for you to let us know when you’d like to jump again.

Can I drink alcohol or take medication before my jump?

Australian Parachute Federation rules insist on a 0.00 blood alcohol concentration reading before taking part in skydiving. We won’t be able to take you jumping if you’ve got any alcohol in your system.

Come and chat to us about any medications you might be on. Most of the time it is okay, but if it is something serious, we might need a note from your doctor.

I have a medical condition, can i still jump?

It depends, but probably, is the short answer. The complete answer is going to be unique to your circumstances - give us a ring and chat about it before you book in and we'll do our best to make it work.

If it is something which reduces your mobility - like a very recent knee reconstruction - or something which impairs your body's ability to deal with stressful situations - like recent heart surgery, it might be best to wait.

That said, we can cater for a lot of the stuff life throws at people. If it is something serious, we might ask for a note from your doctor saying it is okay for you to be jumping.

We are a small business and we pride ourselves on looking after the safety of our customers and our staff - we only want you to jump if it is safe for you and our lovely instructors.

Is there an age limit?

To comply with stringent Australian Parachute Federation safety rules, you have to be 16 years old to be a tandem skydiver.

There is no upper limit though! Our instructors have taken people in their 90s skydiving!

Can I change a booking?

Of course! We understand the need to make changes to pre-existing plans, but please let us know more than 48 hours before your check in time, or we’ll need to charge a re-booking fee.

What height does the parachute open at?

We generally start the parachute opening sequence (pulling the cord!) at around 5,000 feet in altitude, or 1.5 kilometres up! This gives us plenty of time to be safe and to soak up the glorious view.

What if the parachute doesn't open?

OMG

No, not really. Don't stress about it. All skydiving parachute systems have a reserve too. You don't need to use the reserve everyday, but most of our instructors would end up using it about once a year or so. Our instructors are really, really ridiculously skilled and experienced so you probably won't even notice if they did have to use the reserve parachute.

Can i eat before my jump?

Yes, nothing too heavy or greasy that might not sit too well with you, but you should definitely have something in your stomach before you jump.

People being sick during the jump is pretty rare, if that’s what you were wondering!.

Can I breathe in Freefall?

Definitely. Some people in the excitement of it all end up holding their breath for freefall, but you can breathe easily throughout the whole experience. If you are worried, mention it to your instructor and they’ll give you some tips to help.

How far away is the Great ocean road?

We take off from the Great Ocean Rd Airport, which is actually on the Great Ocean Rd. You don’t get more Great Ocean Rd than that!

Is there a weight limit?

We can take up to 100kgs. That's not 100 on a good day after a haircut, that's 100 on our calibrated scales and we will need to assess you if you are over 95kgs. If you are getting close to that limit, give us a ring before you book in so we can have a chat about it; the last thing we want to do is have you turn up at the airport and for us to not be able to take you.

What if the weather is terrible?

We have minimums and maximums of what we are legally able to jump in. If the wind is too windy or the cloud so low cows are getting lost, you probably don’t want to be flying a parachute around. Our safety experts constantly assess the weather and will make the final determination.

If the weather is a bit hit and miss, we might go on hold for a little while to see if it improves to the point we can jump. If the day is absolutely and outright terrible, we will cancel the day to try to reduce everyone’s time spent waiting.

We want you to be able to jump (and we like jumping too!), so we’ll do everything we can to get us up in the air safely.

What should i wear?

Just something comfortable with shoes you’d be happy to go for a decent walk in. Even on a warm day, you’ll want an extra layer for the jump, as it can get cooler way up in the heavens.

We’ll give you a pair of trousers to wear for the jump and some goggles. We have some extra fleece-y tops you are welcome to borrow too.

We’ll get you to remove any loose jewellery before the jump. The likelihood of losing it is low, but better safe than sorry.

is it just like point break?

Yes, but the original one, not the terrible remake.

There is probably a little bit of Top Gun (again, the original) in there too.

can I bring my own gopro?

Australian Parachute Federation regulations require a minimum of 100 jumps before you’re able to carry a camera. Don’t worry though, our tandem masters are the damn best and even in freefall and while you’re flying the parachute around in all the beauty, they’ll get all the shots you want.

Can I wear my glasses or contacts?

Sure! You’ll need to wear some googles over the top to keep all the air out and to make sure your glasses stay on/contacts stay in, but you are absolutely okay to wear prescription glasses or contact lenses.
